We offer a range of women’s health seminars and workshops, designed to educate women about menstrual health and how to improve levels of physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. These workshops move beyond a purely biological approach and help restore a sense of dignity and deeper meaning to a woman’s cyclical nature, so she can live a healthy and fulfilling life. Seminar 1 - Menstrual Health Education
We educate women about the physiological, emotional and psychological impact of their menstrual cycle. We explain what is normal and what is not, offering self-management techniques on how to connect with our natural rhythm whilst improving our overall health and quality of life. It is particularly relevant for young women who are approaching their first menstruation, for teenagers who are learning how to cope with menstruation, and for any women who is experiencing difficulties with her cycle. Seminar 2 - Understanding Endometriosis
This seminar explains the complexities of endometriosis, a common debilitating disorder that affects up to 15% of women and is one of the leading causes of pelvic pain and infertility. Using the latest research, we educate women about the full range of symptoms of endometriosis and the conventional and complimentary approaches to treatment and management of symptoms. We provide information on the emotional impact of the disorder on women’s lives and the support services available for women and families. This workshop is relevant for any women who has endometriosis or thinks she may have endometriosis. It is particularly relevant for teenagers in secondary schools, school nurses and health care workers, as research shows that although 80% of women with endometriosis experience severe period pain in their teens, it takes an average of 10 years to have the condition diagnosed. The lack of general awareness, along with the delays in diagnosis, puts many women at risk of increased symptom severity and infertility which can have devastating consequences on their quality of life. This workshop is also relevant in the workplace environment as it helps to raise awareness of the prevalence of endometriosis and its impact on women’s lives. Seminar 3 - Managing and Healing Endometriosis This workshop is designed to help women who have been diagnosed with endometriosis to understand the nature and impact of the disorder. It encourages women to take an active role in the management of their illness and highlights the effectiveness of complimentary therapies which help manage the disorder, combined with conventional treatment. Our women’s health educator and counsellor, Deborah Sheehy, draws on personal experiences of managing and healing symptoms of endometriosis, and shares strategies for coping with the physical and emotional impact of the disorder. This workshop gives women self-help techniques on how to improve their quality of life and enhance their physical and emotional wellbeing.
