are very happy to help host the visit to Melbourne of
Renowned Meditation Teacher
Khandro Thrinlay Chodon
Melbourne Visit – February 19th & 20th - 2010
Khandro Thrinlay Chodon is a lay female Buddhist practitioner and teacher who was born in the Indian Himalayas to a family of great Tibetan yogis. Khandro-la began her spiritual training as a small child and has studied both Eastern and Western approaches to spiritual psychology. She is devoted to bringing the wisdom of her ancient tradition alive in our modern world.
Since the death of her husband, His Holiness the IXth Shabdrung of Bhutan, in 2003 she has, with the encouragement of many Vajrayana Buddhist Masters, been teaching in the West. She focuses on spirituality in daily life. Khandro-la’s life’s work and vision “Khachodling” engages in spiritual and humanitarian projects in the remote Indian Himalayas. “Khachodling” translates as a place where the heart essence of wisdom, known as the feminine principle in Buddhism, is nourished and respected.
Khandro-la is the embodiment of warmth and humanness and her teachings skilfully inspire us to deepen our awareness and courageously expand into the path of wisdom, joy and compassion.
Melbourne Public Talk – “The Web of Life”
On: Friday 19th February 2010 at 7.30pm
Venue: Carnegie Primary School Hall, 51 Truganini Road, Carnegie 3163 (Mel Ref: 68 H5) Cost: $25
In our busy lives we seldom stop to look at the cycles that are in the seasons, the weeks, the days and even the last hours. We lose ourselves in busyness and forget our interconnectedness to everything around. We believe we are independent and focus on the false solidity of who we appear to be, yet when we look deeply we are totally interdependent on every level. When we see and accept this beautiful web that we are part of, our heart expands and compassion and love display impartially.
Melbourne Workshop – “Meditation and the Journey Inward”
On: Saturday 20th February 2010 from 9.30am to 4.00pm
Venue: Carnegie Primary School Hall, 51 Truganini Road, Carnegie 3163 (Mel Ref: 68 H5) Cost $120
Khandro-la will follow on from the previous evening by introducing participants to reflection and meditation. These exercises replenish our connectedness and help us surrender to deeper truths. Meditation trains us to stop for a moment and look deeply. This calms our mind to notice the beauty within. From this ground we develop strength to break the cycle of everyday reactive habits and live joyfully and courageously in dealing with life's sufferings. The workshop will be an opportunity to revitalize our relationship with inner serenity and rejuvenate our connection to ourselves and our environment.
