Online therapy is an effective way of providing Counselling support for most people. Sessions take place via Zoom which is a fully confidential medium and can be accessed easily with a computer, tablet or smartphone. Alternatively, sessions can take place by telehealth over the phone.
The online option gives not only greater flexibility but is often more convenient time-wise as it removes the need to travel to and from the appointment. It also does away with the need to find a therapist in a particular area and is therefore accessible world-wide (time zone differences permitting).
Deborah has been practicing online therapy for a number of years which permits her to support people based all over Australia as well as internationally, where she has provided support for people in Ireland, the UK and the USA.
It is particularly beneficial for Individual counselling as well as well as the trauma work of TRTP (The Richards Trauma Process) which works just as well online as it does in person.
Online therapy is also very effective for the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy which Deborah is Level 3 trained in unless there is a crisis or high escalation of conflict when person to person sessions are more suitable.
Deborah is currently conducting all her Counselling sessions online only
Since Covid-19 restrictions were implemented in Melbourne in 2020, Deborah has conducted most of her sessions online and is currently only working online. This removes the requirement for face masks and eye shields during therapy sessions and actually allows for better understanding where therapist and client can see each other’s facial expressions fully. It also reduces the risk of spread of Covid until Melbournians return to more Covid normal circumstances. Deborah is likely to remain online only until at least the latter part of 2021.
